Blue powder-coated motorcycle wheel at Redline

Wheel
Powder Coating

Strip, coat, rebalance. Colour change or a rescue from years of Chicago salt — all done in our own shop.

Wheels are the most-requested powder coating job here, and it’s obvious why: they change the look of a bike more per dollar than almost anything else, and they take more abuse than any other painted surface.

The whole job, one shop

Most places quote you for coating and leave the rest to you — you arrive with bare wheels or you pay a second shop to get them that way. We do it end to end:

  • Wheels off the bike, or bring them loose if they’re already out.
  • Tyres off, valves and weights removed.
  • Stripped and prepped — old finish, brake dust and years of road grime, gone.
  • Coated and cured in your colour.
  • Rebuilt — tyres refitted, wheels rebalanced, back on the bike.

Colour

Gloss, satin or flat; blacks, candies, metallics and brights. Riders most often go gloss black, a candy to pick up the tank, or a bright that makes the wheel the feature. If the bike is also getting custom paint, we match them to each other — the advantage of both processes living in one building.

Do it while the tyres are due

If you’re already booked for new rubber, the wheels are coming off and the tyres are coming off anyway. Stacking the two means you’re only paying the coating cost on top.
